Hello World, Welcome to Healthy Controls

Healthy behaviors, healthy habits, Preventive HealthCare, Public Health

I believe the age long adage that prevention is better than cure holds true today especially in our health care practices. All round me I see good people with promising careers, wonderful families and friends battling with health conditions that are almost preventable if only we exercised just 30% of the care we showered on our cars, clothes or other replaceable commodities that we have, on our body.

When we purchase a car whether it be brand new or ‘tokunbo’, apart from registering it, we make sure we get an insurance policy and also buy fuel and take it for servicing after every couple of thousand miles.

Does our body which is not replaceable not deserve an even greater attention from us?
One of the scribes asked Jesus in Matthew 22:36-40: “Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets”.
Also in Luke 10:25-28 it says “And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, what is written in the law? How readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself”. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do and thou shalt live.
The bible expects that we love our self first and then extend that same level of love to our neighbor. But look all around you, you see people with unsafe habits/behaviors screaming “I hate myself”! that will ultimately cause harm to their health on untold inconvenience and hardship to their loved one.

There is a great public health need for awareness towards preventive care practices starting from the individual to our communities and policy makers.

It is for this purpose that I have created this blog. As we move along together in this journey to a better health, I will be updating this blog weekly with current information on preventive health from renowned organizations the world over to keep you informed. I pray you will have the strength, will power and determination to drop unhealthy/risky behaviors and habits and pick up life prolonging ones.

Thank you

Rita
